Pets on Board - Departs Wednesday& Saturday Gympie to Amamoor (Return)

Enjoy the 40km trip through the beautiful Mary Valley on board the Mary Valley Rattler steam train. Stretch the legs (four for some) at the quaint town of Amamoor where the fascinating process of turning the engine on the turntable prepares the train for the return trip to Gympie Station. Please note our pets on board carriage are all segregated.

Tips for the trip!

Check in at the Tour Desk at least 60 minutes before departure so you can see the train pull into the station, chat with the volunteer drivers and guides, explore the historic Gympie Station and enjoy the diverse menu at the Rusty Rails Café. Make sure you bring your camera! Depending on the direction of the train guests will be travelling backwards for one direction of the trip. Please note: This carriage is not wheelchair accessible.

Traveling with pets on the Mary Valley Rattler is strictly limited to dogs and cats, and must adhere to our special terms and conditions:

• All pets must be booked to travel, pets not booked will not be permitted to travel.
• Travel will be restricted to our Guards Van which has no access to on board facilities: toilets, beverage cart, onboard volunteer attendant.
• All dogs are to be on lead at all times and cats to be kept in a basket.
• Your pet must be currently registered.
• We may need to contact you to verify registration.
• For handling, only one pet per person.
• You are required to have carry bags and wipes to clean up any mess your pet makes.
• You must be in control of your pet at all times and not disrupt the safety or comfort of other passengers.
• There is a maximum of two pets travelling in each compartment from one family/social group.

Please note- A $10.00 donation option is available, this donation supports the restoration of our many carriages. We appreciate your generosity in donating to the sustainability of The Mary Valley Rattlers Heritage Fleet.

Booking Notes

·       If you require ramp assistance, please notify us when you book or make note in our online special requirements!

·       If you are travelling with another party on a different booking, please note this in special requirements at time of booking by entering "Travelling with...." to assist us in seating you together.

·      Concession (Inc Pensioner and Companion Card at a concession rate) are accepted.

·       Children under 16 years of age must be accompanied by a paying adult. 

·       Children under 2 years of age not occupying a seat travel free, however if you would like a guaranteed seat for your child under 2, please book as a child fare. Please ensure you note all children travelling under 2 at time of booking.
